Why
do you want to race for Eleonore Rocks? Fundraising has always been a huge part of my
training and racing. As I prepare for
the upcoming season, I wanted to find a great cause to put my efforts to. While there are many very worthy causes
around, I wanted to find one where I could have more of an impact and do so
with people that have similar interests to my own. Team ER is all of those things. The Mission, Outreach, and story from which
the organization originated all struck me.
What
is your background (school, hometown, current town, major, etc.)? I grew up all over the country and even spent 3 years in Europe
with my family, as my Dad's job moved us around a lot. Therefore, I don't really have a hometown
because on average we moved every few years.
I attended Miami University and graduated in 2005 with a BS in Business
and German. At a collegiate level, I
boxed for 4 years and was a 2-time All-American. My senior year, I placed 2nd in the nation in
my weight class at the NCBA Tournament.
I was also the recipient of the NCBA Sportman of the Year. In December, I moved from Houston, TX to
Chicago, IL where I now live.
How
did you get involved in triathlon? After purchasing
my first road bike for my century ride with TNT, I entered a local sprint
triathlon in Michigan. I cycled in my
running shoes and finished 2nd in my age group!
Enjoying it so much, I registered for a 70.3 through TNT and never
looked back!
What
is your favourite of the 3 sports in triathlon? I
like cycling the most, though it is my weakest of the 3 disciplines.
What
inspires you? I am inspired by the ability to make
a difference and have an impact on those less fortunate.
What
is your big boy job? I work for a small financial
advisory firm in a very niche industry--Railroads!
What
kind of goals do you have for the year? My big goal
is racing Ironman Texas with my sister this May! I hope to break 10 hours, and if that
qualifies me for Kona, I want to race Kona with my sister as well as she has
already qualified!
What
is your favourite training spot? Before moving to
Chicago, my favorite spot to train was Memorial Park in Houston, TX.
