Why do you want to race for Team
Eleonore Rocks?
I've run for Ronald McDonald house and The Fisher
house the last two years. I like
competing for charity as it creates more purpose for the activity. After hearing about Team Eleonore Rocks from
Brian Fugate and Jake Thompson it was something I wanted to be a part of.
Why should we choose you?
I participate in a lot of running races each year and
can be a good ambassador for the team. I also travel for my races so will be at many
races where I am the only eleonore rocks person.
What philanthropic endeavors are you involve in?
My participation is mainly financial gifts to
charities and the races I've done for charity.
The two charities I have been involved longest with are Fisher House and
CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates).
What is your background (school, hometown, current
town, major, etc.)?
College – Carnegie Mellon. Hometown is Upper Arlington, Ohio (where I
currently live). I was a Computer
Engineer.
How did you get involved in running?
I began running 6 years ago after a divorce. I was looking for something to improve my
health and also as a way to meet new people.
What is your favorite of distance to race? Why?
My favorite distance is a 50k trail run. I enjoy the varied terrain and change in
pace that accompanies a trail run. I
also run marathons, half marathons, 10ks, 5 miler s and 5ks. I also enjoy the 5k since it requires a
different kind of training, and I like to compete at the Arnold Pump and Run
(37th place overall last year).
What inspires you?
I'm inspired by my family. I want to set an example for my kids to show
how to live an active life style and also demonstrate the discipline it takes
to compete. I also want to show them the
value of good friendships.
Do you have a significant other? Children?
Yes. Married,
two kids (girls), 1.5 and 3.5 years old.
What is your big boy/girl job?
I am currently the Chief Information Officer for
ClearSaleing. ClearSaleing is a division
of eBay.
What kind of goals do you have for the year?
My goals are to:
Place in the top 30 overall at the Arnold Pump and Run
Win my age group in the Hocking Hills Indian Run at
the 60k distance
Finish the Baker Ultra 50 mile race under 11 hours
Run two trail 50ks in under 6 hours 30 minutes.
Run the Grand Canyon Rim2Rim2Rim
Run a 100 miler at the Alabama Pinhoti Trail in under
24 hours
Run a Half Ironman (stretch goal).
Compete at the CRASH B indoor rowing championships and
place in top half of my age group / weight class
What is your favorite training spot?
I run along Griggs Reservoir. A run from my house and then a loop along the
river is 7.5 miles. Another leg up Lane
Road gives a nice 10 mile course. I also
like to walk up and down the sledding hills for hill workouts.
