Why do you want to race for Team
Eleonore Rocks?
After striking up a conversation with Dave while
biking at The Race For Recovery, I realized how important it
is to be involved in one’s community. We
spoke about Eleonore, and her story stuck with me well after the race was
over. After mentioning the cause to
friends and family, I realized it was finally time for me to
“walk-the-walk.” Also, it isn’t easy to
form relationships when competing in such an individual sport, but making some
lasting bonds would an additional incentive to being part of such a worthy
cause.
Why should we choose you?
Since having my children, my life has changed
tremendously. Now, I cannot imagine
existing without them-and I knew that from the first day they were born. So, if there is any way I can help others
through eleonore rocks it would be my
pleasure.
What philanthropic endeavors are you involved in?
None. This is
part of why this particular endeavor would mean so much to me.
What is your background (school, hometown, current
town, major, etc.)?
I was born in Copenhagen, Denmark where I attended
highschool. In 1999 I moved to The
United States to attend college and pursue a basketball career; but after
earning a B.A. in Business Administration and meeting my wife, I know call
Oxford home.
How did you get involved in triathlon?
Shortly after finishing my basketball career, it
became very clear that I missed competing, but I wasn’t sure what to do
next. On a whim, I decided to do a 100 mile
bike race, and once I could feel my legs again, I began biking regularly. Shortly after that, some friends mentioned a
duathlon at a local park, and I gave it a shot.
Hesitantly, I decided it was time to learn how to swim, so I could
complete the tri-fecta. Since then I’ve
been completely hooked!
What is your favorite of the 3 sports in triathlon?
Why?
Running has slowly passed biking as my favorite. Over time, it has been a challenge that I
have grown to look enjoy.
What inspires you?
My son, Carter. He is my everything.
Do you have a significant other? Children?
I married my wife 7 years ago, and since we have had
two children, Carter and Jaylen.
What is your big boy/girl job?
Senior Operations Manager at Relume
Technologies.
What kind of goals do you have for the year?
To be the fastest Clydesdale, and break 10 hours at
The Rev 3 Cedar Point.
What is your favorite training spot?
In the summer, my sub-division is ideal; it has
trails, lakes, and many hills. But there
is nothing like a home-gym to make those long training days a little easier.
