Why do you want to race for Team
Eleonore Rocks? I
originally had the privilege of discussing Eleonore and Eleonore Rocks
Foundation with Dave on one of the triathlon forums. We connected right off the
bat and the friendship has continued to grow exponentially. I was touched and
impressed with the mission of Eleonore Rocks Foundation and realize it is an outstanding
cause. Eleonore Rocks’ mission is to raise awareness and make a positive impact
on the lives of sick children/families by donating rocking chairs. In addition
to the rocking chairs the foundation provides support to the families improving
their quality of life while growing the bond with their child.
Why should we choose you?
As
being part of the ambassador Eleonore Rocks triathlon team I
had the privilege of raising awareness and money for the foundation. I spread
the word of the foundation at work and during races. During last year I was
able to raise over my $2000 goal and had a few ER cheering sections at my races
(family and friends).
Now
being part of the team last year does not always guarantee you to be a member
to this year’s team. Again this year I promise to spread the word of Eleonore
Rocks foundation both at work and through the cycling and triathlon community. I
will continue to be an ambassador of both the foundation and triathlon in
general.

How did you get involved in triathlon?
Originally
my mother got my sister and I involved in road races. We started with local 5K
races which sparked the interest. It continued to grow with my sister and
myself eventually running marathons. Once completing a couple marathons, the
idea to try something new was born and triathlon begun. I have not looked back
since.
What is your favorite of the 3 sports in triathlon?
Why?
I
originally loved running, but lately have truly enjoyed cycling. It is great to
ride with other local athletes/cyclists and discovering new routes and meeting
new people.
What inspires you?
Smiles!
Yes it is that simple. There is nothing that brightens my day more than a
simple smile from a patient/patient’s family. The playfulness, joy, and
excitement the child have fueled my desire for my current job and provides me
with satisfaction. Also knowing what I do, make a difference to both the
families and local community inspires me.
Do you have a significant other? Children?
None
to both

oncologic/hematologic diseases.
What kind of goals do you have for the year?
·
Continue
to raise awareness of Eleonore Rocks Foundation and their mission
·
Improve
on my half-ironman times and try out new locations/races
·
Become
more involved with my community and local organizations and volunteer at races
·
Be
part and highly involved with the triathlon team
What is your favorite training spot?
Currently
my favorite training spot is a 25 mile loop that is about 30 minutes from my
house which I ride with 3 other tri-athletes which covers multiple towns and
has a great halfway point convenience store for the oatmeal pie or rice crispy
treat pick me up. The route has quite a few hills on it but overall located in
a rural area. A great way to escape.
